Help please if you can. I got sent a new activity key from the LR dealer I bought my 2017 disco from in London. They said I had to take it to a LR dealer to get paired to the car. I took it to my local dealer in Northern Ireland and they told me I needed a bar code that came with the key. Is this right? Apparently my activity key is now a brick! The key was sent to me in a Jiffy bag. Maybe there was a barcode in it but if so it’s been since thrown out. Surely the key can’t now be useless??

If you open the key fob black bit you should have a sticker inside with a number on it.This can be used by a Nanocom reader to link the car to key.

You will need to get a Nanocom, garages have them or you may find someone on here near you who can help who has one.

If you do not have a sticker inside then key is no good.

Find an automotive locksmith close who is specialised in the key programming business cos they should have professional tool for new modells without needing a bar code.

Thanks! I tried one but they only want to work with ‘normal’ keys, not the wrist band ‘activity key’ I’m having the issue with. I suspect not too many have one of these things!

I've just looked this up, sounds like a useful item to have!!
Have you tried using it? Wondering if it might pair/sync itself...
Thanks for replying.
It would be brilliant yes if I could get it to work but I tried there to see if it would just pair itself - no luck. It frustrating that I appear now to just have an expensive arm band!

Yeah, I’ll try them. It took me over a year to get the band so I suspect this will be a nightmare too but looks like my only option. Thanks

This is what I’ve found out, hope it helps

REF

Dealer syncs it, plus One point to note, when you pair the activity key to the car you need the plastic box the key comes in as you need to enter the code from the barcode, so if you purchase one unboxed off of eBay they are useless.

here’s also a link of how to fit it , use the band on the boots letter D , as the module is fitted in the boot

GStuart thanks so much for taking the time to look into this for me. The activity key was listed in the included options on the Land Rover invoice for the car so I’m presuming the kit that needs to be in the vehicle is already installed. I’ve emailed the contact in the LR dealer in London I bought it from for the case you refer to. Holding my breath now!! Conor

ur so welcome , always a team effort , so looks like that bar code is in the key holder it came with

that’s brilliant the module has been fitted , do u still have the bar code please as I’m also wondering if its also shown on the module that’s fitted in the tailgate , as it seems without that bar code it’s useless

Hope the LR dealer can help , if not come back and plse let us know and we can then do some further digging for u

Ps, Assume the original activity key was lost that’s why another one was sent , have been searching to see what diagnostics will, pair it

I don’t have the bar code no. I’ve requested to case so we’ll see what happens! Thanks again. Greatly appreciated. Conor
