I have tried searching through threads but not found anything to match so...

I have a 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE and when I unlock it and get in I see a warning on the centre display that the system will shutdown if I do not start the engine. I did get a suggestion that there was a separate battery running this but I have not been able to track it down as I am not sure how it is described.

I am hoping this is within my scope to fix (it is just a battery after all *ha ha ha ha ha*) but until I know where it is I am just guessing.

Any pointers?

There's only 1 battery in this vehicle. How old is the battery? If its not been replaced, then that's the place to start. The average life for a FL2 battery is about 4 years, after which it's on borrowed time.

Ahhh....so if it is the original then I have done very very well. Need to find the old engine hoist so I can do the swap without putting my back out

If it is the original, then yes it's doing well.

They are reasonably heavy (30kg ish), and pretty high to lift too.
If you'd struggle, then definitely get a helper to lift it.

Don't forget that things like windows and sunroof will need calibration after the replacement battery is installed. It's easy to do, and explained in the owners handbook. ;)
