OK, so my Rangey is pretty standard.

Should I be tarting it up with side-sills, big lights, etc, or is it best to leave it unmolested? I wouldnt mind improving looks a little bit, but wondering if it's really worth it.

What sort have you got? I'd feel bad about making irreversible mods to a nice straight original 2 door Range Rover. Range-Rovers classics come with good looks as standard in my opinion.

Yeah. I originally bought it because I always wanted one, but now I want to try off-roading with it and see what it really is capable of.

Also want to make it stand out a little bit fromt he norm.

I'll get pictures up over the weekend hopefully.

It's just a nice clean P38 with no add-ons at all.

and dont forget "dont go alone " and make sure you have recovery ropes or stropes

Going alone is O.K. as long as: You know what sort of a mess your unlikely to be able to get yourself out of without some help; you have a bit of confidence; and enough brain cells to be able to read an O.S. map. It's a good crack having some company, but a bit more of an adventure to go on your own.

Then pimp it to the extreme with what ever you like and think will look good or improve it. It's all about personal choice at the end of the day. One man's rubbish is another man's treasure ;)

If money was no option I'd strip off the bits you don't need for off roading, add some protection and then go for it. When I say bits not needed for off roading I'm talking of all the bits that make it more handleable on the road, skirts and the likes.

What ever floats your boat really.

a std landy whatever it is, is capable of some very good results off road, (unless it's a gaylander:rolleyes:)
first put some MT tyres on it an think about a slight lift, so ya can put bigger tyres on it,
then think about protection,(steering guard, diff guards, fuel tank guard) snorkel would be good, an don't forget new bushes (poly or std) whichever you fancy.

but a std landy will still impress you
believe me!

if you want it to stand out, leave it alone :D too many modded rangies. and the above list is typical of what people do. mud terrains, lift, light bar blah blah blah.

take it offroad with mates, see how you get on, see where it faulters and take it from there. If its gets a bit much and you think "ooo i dont like this" then whats the point in lifting it with MT's, adding light bars, lift and other fancy ****. waste of money. take your time and take it from there.

G

ill likely be told different but i would have thought the only accessery youd needto make a p38 stand out from the crowd in oxfordshire would be some of the afore mentioned mud

could have been worse. I could have bought one of the many freelanders the guy was trying to fob me off with.

Well, I've decided to get a set of 18" Mondials (seeing as just about everyone else has Hurricanes) and a pair of side-bars. Maybe update the rear lights to 2000's, but that'll be it methinks.
