Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows if you can get access to the auto box harness, particularly the area around that P-clip, from above by removing the central console access panel. I've seen this, https://www.landroversonly.com/threads/trans-harness-replacement-on-03-disco-auto-v8.156902/ but haven't heard of anyone else doing it this way. Access from underneath seems almost impossible.

I really just hoping to release the loom far enough to see and maybe repair the loom from the P-clip area.

Thanks.

Hi, just reading that link it sounds like you have all the access you need once the riveted panel is out the way (& that's how I understood it was done from reading on here) I think @Stanleysteamer has done this before as no doubt a few others have. On rebuild rivnuts seem to be recommended instead of rivets on that access panel. Please let us know how you get on I might need it myself one day:eek:, all the best.

Thank you, that's how I read it too. Many have struggled to remove it from underneath, I wondered why I've not seen that method before. I'll certainly try it first. I'll try to get some pictures and do a write-up. Thanks for the rivnut suggestion too.:)

I HAVE mentioned the P clip before cos it happens so often to be at the root of a problem but I myself have only ever taken the said bit off on a D1 which might be where the confusion arises from.
I did it to free off the diff lock. And yes there were a shedload of rivets to drill out and no I didn't have the sense to use rivnuts, never even thought of it, I just re riveted it once I'd freed it off an lubed it up.
Others do seem to be able to take it off from below, but I cannot say how from personal experience.
A good old Google might help find out how!
Best of luck!
