this being my first discovery and automatic, could someone advise as to what is an acceptable/ ordinary oil consumption.

i dont tow, or drive fast, and do a mixed type of driving.

after 7k miles the dip stick level is halfway between min and max.

have used the search facility but without luck.

thanks
mat

I was going to answer this but decided to leave it to someone with a TD5, I don't think it should loose as much as that in only 4300 odd miles. Although its not drastic either. Keep an eye on it.

thank you for replying to my post.

have always been a little warey about oil and i know that l/r's love the stuff so just wanted to be sure.

it would appear to have used, or lost, approx half a litre over 7000 miles.

the dipstick is halfway between min and max, but i like to keep it nearer the max.

how does that sound ?

WAIT, misread the post, I saw the 7k and got it in my head you said Km's!

7000miles, 1/2 a litre, NO problem!

The oil should idealy be changed at about 5000/6000miles anyway regardeless of what LR says the oil change interval should be.

thats great thanks.

dont do more than 9000 miles a year anyway, so happy to split the difference between half annual and recommended oil changes.

thanks again

mat

The oil level in mine does drop a bit from max, over the year which is similar to your 9000 miles, not quite to minimum though but a noticable drop.
