hi

my apologies for keep asking questions

started the hippo up after reassembling all the dashboard, heater matrix etc

pressed the ac button as usual and set the temp to cold

the ac switch orange light didn't illuminate as usual , worked fine before replacing the heater matrix , dashboard etc

now i know my ac is low so therefore is there a low pressure sensor that would prevent the ac motor to run , but would assume the orange light would still come on

i could only run the car for a few minutes or so as the fuel is very low, but normally the ac light would come on straight away

daft question could it be the switch has gone, have made sure all the wires are connected, the fan works

as ive had the battery disconnected for a few weeks just didnt know if there was some form of reset or does it have to be reactivates via the hawkeye for some reason

is there an easy way to test the switch via a multimeter in order to ensure the switch is faulty or not as i think i new switch is around 40 quid and dont want to buy another one without testing it properly , as ive not put the radio back in so very easy to pull the switch out

thks so much and apologies for keep picking ur brains

Green/white is a switched live so could well be connected.
The AC indicator light will illuminate when the gas is low.
Hiya, reading this prompted me to reply-I'd assumed my air con needed re gassing as it doesn't get any colder than the normal cool setting on the fan but I haven't had the indicator illuminating at all :-/

you have had a spare plug have you not . just wondering.

hi, thought i had a spare ac switch but haven't, it was a cruise control one

didnt know a dashboard light came up if the ac is to low, always good to learn these items

thks about the sw live wire , will put the multimeter across the switch

know i also had fun with the red cable coming out of its clip on the heater box, just hope it hasn't come away , with all the ducting put back etc,

least i know which wire i need to test that feeds the ac switch light

been reading about these DIY kits, think i will go to an ac company as its oily etc round the filler pipes as it goes through the bulkhead, so will get the system discharged, o seas changed and cleaned out then regassed

just got to sort this switch out and get the rest of the car put back together

really appreciate this help but all good fun and me being sad still enjoying myself doing all of this as i know how much money im saving , lol

thks again guys

easy way to tell if the air con is working with the engine running and air con switched on have a look at the aircon pump if it is not running then it is either under gassed or no gass or an electrical fault

hi

just had a quick look and the heater cables have indeed come off, the red one on the left hand side and also the black one

suppose that explains the ac problem as if i remember correctly if u had the ac on and switched it onto heat the ac light would go out, so i assume there is a small micro switch that goes on and off as u turn the heater dial

looked though the haynes and done a search but couldnt find anything, but can u replace the cables without having to remove the dashboard

really hope there is a technique in order to hook them back on plse

just driving me nuts abit

thks again
