AC Fan Relays Hot?

Hi all

Whilst trying to understand why a previous owner had done some extremely creative wiring under the bonnet to the aux fans I discovered that my Aux fan relay (the last one of the two) was brown on one side where it looked like it was burnt. Both of them seem to run very hot and the wires beneath them that feed the realy also run hot. Is this normal?

Shouldn't get hot unless the cable size is too small for the current flowing through them. The fans should only run when the condensor temerature gets too high. If theres been a bit of extra wiring added I'd have a good look at that as it more than likely the cause.
