I had a Disco 2 AC drains blockage that overflowed onto both driver and passenger foot wells. The problem had been there for some time and the floor had minor surface rust damage.
I fixed the AC drains. I removed and cleaned the nipples under the car and cleaned the lines using a curtain wire and pushing it down from the passenger compartment and up into the AC unit. The overflow however, was left untreated for quite some time by the previous owner and so minor rust damage occured to both the driver and passenger footwells. Following sanding, priming and a complete repaint of the whole interior floor of the car (removed seats and centre console) there were no more problems, from the AC at least.
I did not start off to make this as a "HOW TO" so I don't have all the pics. I used a rust inhibitor to neutralize the rust called Corostabil and then I painted over this with a domestic metal paint that was recommended to me by a local as being of particularly long life. I used wire brushes and varying grades of sandpaper. I removed the two front seats and the centre console...Thanks RAVE manual. I replaced the screws that keep the door sills in place as they had rusted worst of all. The metal rails of the driver and passenger seats were also slightly rusty and so I used rust inhibitor and a black gloss hammerite brush on finish. As this is hidden behind the plastic seat skirts I was not so worried about the finish, more about the protection.
Hope this pics are somewhat helpful...
Regards
