My 2001 P38 had an occasional ABS fault come up without any trouble with the brakes. Hawkeye read a fault code - broken wire front RH sensor.
I eventually replaced the sensor and since then have had almost continuous ABS/Traction fault RH front sensor air gap too big. The fault does not appear immediately but can take 5 miles before the 3 amigos sound. Before they sound the abs system makes the brake pedal vibrate, afterwards all is back to normal and brakes function well.
Have done the usual to close the gap, tried another sensor, found the reluctor ring broken and replaced the CV joint, even tried another ECU. Each time Hawkeye identifies RH front sensor gap too large and when it clears the fault (according to hawkeye) the fault remains on the dash board.
Is it possible hawkeye is not actually clearing the fault?
What other checks could I try - I have checked the wheel bearing and cannot feel any play or any roughness ( not keen to buy another hub unit if i can avoid it!)?
What next?
