hi, i am having problems with the useless freelander, it is a 1.8 51 plate. it is showing the 3 amigos so far i have replaced break light switch, checked all wiring to the hdc, and checked all fluids. no problems there. decided to remove the sensors and tidy them up.

before replacing the sensors i thought i would check them with an ohmmeter and this is driving me crazy. each sensor was read 490 ohms when i tested them. put them back in place and tested from the abs block two were reading 490 ohms and two were reading 13500 ohms. on removing these two that read 13500. i tested them again and they were reading 490 ohms.

thought imust have taken the wrong ones of, so back to the car to test and they were reading 490 ohms. i have since found that all 4 sensors at some point will read either 490 ohms or 13500 ohms ( 3hrs with an ohm meter and different colour tape to mark them).

the question is what should the readings be. surely i cant have 4 duff sensors giving exactly the same wrong readings (especially at £200 a sensor)

any help would be appreciated

thanks

neal

490 ohms sounds about right. I think it would be best to get the codes read first to find out which circuit has a problem, then do some testing. Will save you a lot of time and money in the long run

after fitting them you need to drive the vehicle to create an air gap, reckon your ohms will settle down, also you might need to rotate the driveshaft to turn the reluctor ring to an air gap for testing, good luck.

hi, thanks for the replys. i can not read the fault codes as the OBD socket has decided it no longer want to be friends.

jacked the car up and spun the wheels got a fluctuation of about 100 ohm.

took the car for a spin and now when i put my foot on the brake the abs kicks in and judders the first couple of times and the nothing for the rest of the journey.

My ABS lights were on and my sensors all read 900 ohms.
My ABS simply needed a reset with the code reader.
Problem never returned...

Are all relcutor rings in good condition? i had the 3 lights and it turned out a ring had split. got one from the internet £16 delivered. hope you find a nice cheap fix.
