Hit the brakes, brake pedal sinks quite a bit but fatty hyppo doesn´t come to a alt, instead it slows down and only then stops. I´m sure if i need do an emergency stop, it woun´t! (already concidering evasive maneuvers):D

Double tap brake pedal and i can feel brake pads hard bite the disk and then yeah fatty hyppo stops like it should.

What would ya fine folk recogn, eh?

(1999 L series 2.0 Di hyppo)

whats the fluid like

Brake fluid change can make all the difference i changed mine when i replaced the ABS pump and it took me a day or so to get use to how much better it was

does your ABS light work as normal on the dash... if so take to a gravek road slam all on try to get the ABS to kick in... if you skid then it isnt working if it kicks in all the sensors are working as if u have a sensor faulty the ABS wouldnt work

Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years as it is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from the air) This really affects it's ability to work correctly.
It's also worth checking the pads are free to move in the caliper. Sometimes rust under the anti rattle shims grips the pads so tight they struggle to move into the disc.

Yeah wot a thought, gonna have to change the fluid and bleed them good. Pads move well enough. Cheers lads!

sensors will have no effect on the brakes if the fluid has air in it or other nasty's do a check on pads and back brakes see if there is any leakage of fluid ,

It is almost certainly air in the hydraulics as when you pump the pedal you compress the air and the brakes work. The hard bit is knowing how it got in, it may be duff fluid and a re-bleed will do it, but may be poor seals in any component (caliper, piston, master cyl) and you should look for leaks from these places to be sure that you are not aiming for disaster !

Good luck

T´was air in the hydraulics! Bled ´em real good and toped it with brake fluid i had left, luckly was enough to top it up.
By the end of the month i´ll have to flush out this old fluid, and put fresh new one.
Ty for all the sugestions!
