Hi all,

Well as soon as I get over one problem another apears. I suppose owning a rangie wouldnt be much fun if Land Rover made it faultless.

Anyway back to the point.

I have started to get a intermitent ABS fault come up on the message centre.

I have plugged in Autologic and it shows right hand front sensor air gap fault. After much testing I have been able to triger the fault.

It appears that if I put it on full right hand lock and put the power down it displays ABS fault. Can the air gap be altered in anyway? does any one know what the air gap should be?

So..............

Am I looking at a CV joint problem or play in the hub?

Any suggestions welcome

Bryan

If there is no play in the wheel bearing then it is most likely that one of the sensor conductors has snapped and only makes contact part of the time.Did one yesterday on a v8 disco that was fine until you went full left lock and put the rh wheel into a hole.Best way to diagnose it is to disconnect the sensor plug,(ign off)and connect a multimeter to it on resistance.Note the reading and see if it changes when you pull or bend the cable around - esp down near the actual sensor where the cable bends most when the steering moves around.

Hi all,

Still cant sort this abs fault. eightinavee I was under the impression that the sensors are supplied with the hub assemblies. Can you get them sepratly? and how do you change them and set the air gap on them?

all help apprieciated

Bryan

Sensors for Disco 2's used to be supplied only with the hub,now you can get them on their own.LP RR's are available as seperate units.Pull out the old one with pliers and gently tap in the new one till it meets the reluctor ring, the action of the ring turning pushes the sensor out to a "zero" gap.plug it in and away you go.
Find a supplier that is a Bripart agent, they can supply OE Wabco parts usually alot cheaper than main dealer prices.

Hi all,

fixed my abs fault. it did tern out to be just a sensor. the old one had a brake in the wire so was causing a intermitent fault.

So new sensor fittted, must have been one of the easiest jobs i have done on my rangie.
