today i changed a front abs sensor, new abs rings on both sides and the hill decent light went out, i still have the tc and abs, if i drive it forward the hd light comes back on, im getting a reading on all 4 sensors, 2 new rings, the rears dont look broken so i cleaned them with brake cleaner. whats the next step. is it possible for the brake light switch to fail even tho my brake lights still work ?

G Sensor.

it is a gravity sensor that fits along side the handbrake beneith the centre consol it has a triangle shape on it , and it monitors the gravit of going forward or backward and i had accidently pulled the wires of when i did the handbrake cables hope this helps

if you have the tall center consol then just take the middle out, 4 screws just to look to see if the wires are on, but you do need to have a code reader to check it, or if you know somebody with another freelander borrow the other one for a minute.

i dont no anyone with a freelander or code reader, maybe i need to buy one

Or, call up your local inde and ask them to plug in. A decent diagnostic is many dollar. The sensor is £70 for main dealer. Modern cars eh - you need a computer to tell u whats wrong wid the bloody thing but they are all the same now!

i have a u381 memoscan but it doesnt seem to connect. it is suppose to be conpatible with landrover

Ah, sorry no idea. A local mobile mechanic using a Snap On Solus sorted mine - went for a drive with it plugged in, saw the abs sensors workin real time - nice piece of kit!

its a pain in the ass, if i didnt need a mot i could live with it

Yea, I felt the same way. If you go the trial and error route, go for the brake light switch first would be best advice as this was subject to an improved version by LR, but OBD is favourite. Good luck with it!

looking on ebay whats the best brake switch to go for, i see one has a small loom with it

I think the one with the loom is the improved design - long time back I replaced mine and bought from LR dealer. Can anybody else confirm???? it is a well documented issue on here.
