erm.. not sure about anything else.. any pointers would be great

well my brothers friends caught fire a few weeks back and ended up needing 200 yards of the hard shoulder of the M60 relaying!!!

personally - i know what i'd do (buy another disco or go for a swb shogun / pajero if its more of a 4x4 car you want)

1) go for carty's td4 - its a betta bet.
2) read the other threads - or see ya optician.
3) sit back, relax and start saving.
4) i aint sayin nuffink else!

Afternoon flopsy, encouragement right then aaaaaaa yes......................... encouragement,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I know, tell him about the good times you had in the courtesy vehicles, that should do it.

why is it that as soon as i read the title of this fred i though of saddam.".i'm about to step off here with a rope round me neck" is it cos its much the same thing??

wots ya sposed to do guys? Tell it like ya find it - or take the attitude "if he cant be bothered to read the gazillions of threads - then he deservs wot he gets"?

haha ****in hell only asked for a bit of advise are you the landy zone official internet warrior ?

disco Paul - you already have a 300tdi so you have the workhorse already.

People/spammers on here will not give the freelander a fair assessment and are biased because they drive defenders/discos

Other forums are:

http://www.landroversonly.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=11

http://www.freelanderowners.com/forum/index.php

Many people come on here purely because they have a problem initially and so the majority of people who frequent the forum will have had some sort of problem. They are in the minority and the figures are not a true representation of freelanders, plenty of freelander owners out there that have never been on the forum and have had no probs.

In the case of MHM, yes its unfortunate that the amount of money was spent. But that was in relation to the KV6 unit giving him bother. Most of that cost would have been labour.

Disco Paul was talking about the 1.8

If you are handy with a spanner then there is no reason why a Freelander shouldnt be tackled, hence saving you a fortune in labour costs.

Slob - The bias comes from serious off roaders defender/disco drivers that wouldnt touch hippos with a barge pole. LR1314??? doesnt exist but then are you being true to form without stating factual/informative info but mere random unfounded comments and murmors.

I see - getting personal are we?

I like the comments about Slob, particularly as you do the same above - if you haven't seen the bills - dont comment!

ps sorry Grunt - right in 1!

No not getting personal mate, just bringing a few details to the attention of others:) Trying to keep it all civilised. would even discuss it over a pint as we can all be keyboard heros LOL

No point in spamming the thread with condemming negative comments. The guy Disco paul seems well hacked off - and I dont think it portrays the forum in good light, never mind Freelanders, regardless what anyone on here thinks of them. This is a forum after all and everyone can have their say but the buy was lookin for genuine comments, not something to tickle his ears, he wanted the pros and cons!

With regard to your spending (£6k) on repairs:

From earlier posts about the problems from your KV6 on this forum and other forum, plus the amount of time it spent in the workshop and the countless trips back and forward to it, it appeared that you were spending the most cost on labour as would be the case with most servicable/repair items. A standard fix for the hgf in the 1.8 is at most £1200 in some of the bigger garages inc labour

Of course if you are willing to disclose the finer points of repair invoices then I would be more than interested..... but that would be getting personal ;)

so why are there so many threads on here with people stating how , once its fixed this time its being sold? or i'll never buy another landrover again. and these are from hippo owners that are fed up with the thing being in the garage more than they are on the road..
if it was only one problem they might have kept it but to have them go wrong over and over again and none of it cheap to fix. well its only right this info is past on the anyone thinking of buying one..or would you rather us say ' "oo!, a freelander ,, mmmm! wish i had one; they really are the dogs bollocks"... and i've heard that most garages wont even go near them if it involves a head gasket, which is one of the most common problems.
so yeah you go ahead and tell them its a fine car and will give him years of unrivaled service. but we all know the truth
