just wondered if any one was attending this? or been? as its only down the road from me. only brought my disco 200tdi about 10days ago have spent most time fixing it rather than driving it. it has many off road mods and looks very capeable, i however dont have much offroad experience and thought this may be a good place to start as i has some sort of track to go round!

:blah::blah:

still got a garage full of seats dont i! haha.
will you be going to this abingdon thing? thinking i may nip out for a couple of hours on saturday

cool. give me a shout when your out n about. dunt know owt about the legal requirments for seats in the 'load area' do u? could really do with a 3rd seat and i got some old transit seats i could maybe make work, but does it 'have' to have a seat belt??

I'll be going. Only a few miles from me and got roped in to do some marshalling as well.

Looks like its going to be very wet and muddy this weekend:D:D:D

I'll be the cold wet misserable bastid standing knee deep in mud wondering just how I got myself into this mess.

No to worry though, my tart is going so I can laugh at her all weekend to ease my suffering:rolleyes:

oh good like the sound of wet! should be more fun.

i will give you a wave on the way round :crazy_driver:

do you know if there is any special requirements to go round the off road track as it said on the website : "All vehicles will be subject to an inspection & will only be allowed on to the course when approved by the scrutineer"

obviously i have tax/ mot/ insurance , was just wondering if i have anything to worry about as im new to all this off road business.

As far as I am aware, they just want to check your not driving something dangerous. Having your battery properly strapped down and a fire extinguisher on board is a requirement at some places i've been, but as this is a big 'general public' doo and not a particularly 'hard core' course, so I doubt it will be too strict. I believe there will be routes for the less adventurous though, as well as some more challenging bits! This will be my first trip to Abingdon though so please dont take this as gospel, I aint seen it yet.

p.s. Just spoke to the Chief Marshall for the event and apparently, unlike Stoneleigh, there is no booking or limits to the off road course. You can spend all weekend driving round and round if you like!!

p.p.s The is a video of someone driving round the course on the Abingdon4x4 web site.

sounds good cheers for that, i will be poping down on the sunday as have a wedding to attend saturday so unfortunatly cant make a full weekend of it!

i do have a fire extinguisher but not sure about the battery thing will have a quick check tomorrow

so is anyone going? im heading up at about 10 tomorrow, taking the a420 from swindon if anyone wants to join? going solo unfortunatly this time the more the merrier!

Abingdon was great as usual.

Saturday was perfect weather.

(Very sunny - as by the glare in the pic - Corker of a day though)

Highlight of the day yesterday was the Hummer bellying out on a hill, a collective cheer went up across the site!:hysterically_laughi

Indeed, twas a good weekend. I got to play Sat and Sun morning, then Marshalled in the afternoons.

There were a few err, unusual motors going round, couple of 2CV's, a new Merc (lost half his front bumper:D), a couple of VeeDub camper vans and a new Skoda thing that also raised a few laughs.:p

Surprising how many road only cars, with road tyres, were giving it a go. Fair play.
