Give that front grill a bit more time before changing it. It sort of goes with the bonnet, makes it look less bulbous.

Yep, See what you're saying, To be honest It wont get changed just like that. Once it's on the road I'll decide if I like it or not.
No doubt there will be other bit's I'll snag.

hmmm you are going to finish before me haha :/ looks great mate
better get my arse into gear

Cheers :) To be fair there's more to do than meets the eye so you may well be done before me.

Not a lot done today. Suppose it's getting to that stage of the build where there's **** everywhere and I can't find f*ck all.
Problem is I've got stuff in to many places, 2 sheds, Garage, Garden (In numerous places) and even in the house

Any way first job was to paint the spats, head light surrounds and grill.
While that was drying I fitted the front panel.
Kind of grown on me abit already. Doesn't look as out of place body colour.

Now being the impatient c*nt I am I wanted to get the light surrounds fitted.
Paint wasn't fully dry but handleable. Just had to be careful.

Grill fitted.

And the lights fitted including td5 side repeaters. Which I think look abit better than the blocky early ones :) Got all the o/s lights working. Both front and back :)

As I say kind of grown on me abit. Will leave as is for now though.

And last job was fit the spats on the o/s. Will do the other side when I've sorted the wiring out.
Although I'm still not sure about the gloss black :( F*ck I'm and indecisive tw*t

Gloss black looks a 1000% better mate!! Also where did you get that surround from? I WANT ONE!!!

Yeah I agree they do. To be fair it was either standard, colour coded or gloss black. So I guess they're staying like that :p
Surround was off one of the many facebook groups. Cheep anorl :D

That gloss black looks the mutts nuts...:D:clap2::clap2:

Cheers :) Definitely looks a lot better than colour coded.

its looking incredible Aaron its a credit too you pal :clap2: :p

Thankyou for your kind words :)

I ####ing love it!!!! Roof wants to go black too aswell

Glad you like it :) I'm thinking black roof now. Original plan was to repaint white but now the arches are on I've changed me mind.

I agree black roofs look cool as fook.

:D Can't decide but it's the way I'm leaning at the mo.

And you can bake giant cakes in the back in the summer ;)

Really!! I always thought under the bonnet was the best way :D
Mind I could fit more in the back than under the bonnet :p
And I do likes a good cake

Yep why do you think white was standard color. Not to you BB, to others that say cool for black but should be hotter;)

Yeah but for how long it stays hot for in this county I'm not bothered :)

ive had a 110 with a white roof and a 110 with a crewcab blcak roof and a fulll length black roof, and honestly, ive never noticed a difference. i know that scientifically black absorbs more heat etc etc, but in the real world i dont think it has much effect on in this scenario....

God I wish I knew how to paint, and when I say paint I mean the whole process of correct prep, technique and the correct grades of paper to use and when to use them. Real credit to you mate, the painting is one hell of a skill to have, especially not having a body shop!!

My thoughts as well.

You shouldn't be leaning towards a black roof your should be already spraying it black as we post this lol

haha. I'm sure my favorite neighbours would love me doing that :D
Need to get some more paint if I'm going gloss black anyway. Run out today.

The paint isn't perfect.
Ask Landyfox, He's seen it in person so knows what it's like.
Paint isn't as hard as you'd think.
I have taught myself everything I know. It would have been nice to be shown properly but that isn't going to happen.
At the end of the day even if you f*ck it up. Re prep it and do it again and it'll still cost you less than paying someone.

I was really dubious about it at first and now this is the third I've painted and never looked back.

Seriously I would recommend anyone to give it a go as I know good results can be had by an amateur :)

It's the only stage I've never attempted on any vehicle but after seeing what you've achieved then I might have a go with a few panels here and there. Being a mechanic i always do my own oily bits, so it would be nice to complete the job at home.

Just skimmed through the whole thread - nice job matey well done that's a tidy machine! :)

Still got one of those gay stickers in the window though lol! ;)

Just read through the whole thread. Loving your work. Totaly impressed.
With that blue you could go for just about any colour roof. Whites clasic but standard, silver would be passable and a bit different. But your chequer palte is already gloss black, so gloss black it should be.
Keep up the good work. Good luck on the job front. Anyone who can strip down a car to its componets and re build it to such a high spec has the nous and the gumption required by any and every business. don't be putting yerself down again mate.

Yeah, It's a nice feeling to know that I've done every single thing to my vehicle without paying someone else.
I did my apprenticeship as a mechanic. But being a young and dumb things went up **** creak and never finished my level 3 so that was the end of that. But it means I've got a good understanding of most things and will give anything a bash.
That includes painting. Seriously give it ago you wont regret it, I know I don't and better than the old roller and brush I used to use.
I've had a few people pm me asking for advice on paint so I must be doing something right :)

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo don't go black on top there's too many around now and they're starting to look pants, your typical Chav wagon! :D

On the plus side, it's looking spot on mate, an outstanding job.

Yeah but, No but....
Now the spats are gloss black I think it'd go quite well.
Not sure in all honesty.

Said gay sticker will be removed eventually ;)

Cheers mate, Thankyou for taking the time to read :).
I did think about dark grey. But I know black is going to suit it. So don't think it's worth the risk.

Good look on the job front, Yeah I'm going to need it :(
I sometimes wish I could change who I am. As is I probably have zero chance of a job.
Going for any interview is going to end in disaster. Why 'cos I'm a c*nt, Or should I say I come across as one. I don't mean to be but I do, I can be very brash and blurt stuff out.
My other problem is telling people what I think. Which they tend not to like. Which is probably why some people don't like me. Like when working on site for example.

I was lucky that my current job came though a friend so obviously no interview  He kind of understands me so I'm left to do what I do on my own.
Again I'm lucky that I've been doing it for 3 years ish when it was meant to be a couple of months to get him out of the ****.
But I suppose when I'm on not much more than minimum wage and can be left to do most things on my own he's going to keep me. But I'm grateful for the job as I had been out of work 18months when I got it and as above I'm not going to get another else where.

I could go on forever so sorry for the rant
