A Problem that keeps Springing Back

Hi there I am shore you've heard this before but my 88'' 1977 landy is suffering from the landy lean, sinking on the drivers side front spring. They are 1200 mile new 'paddock' parabolic springs. after 600 miles the front drivers side spring gave way lowering that corner. with the car leaning by as much as 10 degrees in that direction. This happened with the last springs, which the car had sins 1977! I'ed thought they had had enough of life but now I am not so shore. The springs were fitted by a land Rover specialist in Wells last winter.
So what could be wrong please help?

Dunno, but my first response would be to go back to the fitters.

My Dad drove it to me at work one day, 15 miles by the time he got to me the spring had sunk, so yes it was sudden.
what's more is that I measured axel to chassis height and no issue there, it sits precisely where the Haynes Manual suggests. there is nothing wrong with the chassis to make this happen either.

Have you checked the U bolts ? When fitting new springs some people tend to leave the shackle bolts and U bolts a bit loose until thing have settled. It could be a case of setting to the book with ratchet straps etc. to get it level. The one thing I would worry about is that you may have Britpart springs. They do not have a good reputation, you may have to change them again, if so buy GB springs.

That's exactly what I was thinking Man I loove de cake:bolt:

Prob cheap imported springs...take em back and buy a set of GB Springs paras.

Britpart springs, mines got quite a list because of them

Swap the springs over, left to right, then get your dad to drive it again.

I've found the problem, the left hand side of the chassis is longer than the right hand side by 1 cm between spring shackle mounting points.
Any ideas how to solve this simply and cheaply. I can think of using a longer spring shackle on the right hand side to rise it up, may be a 1 tone shackle.

You might wqant to do yourself a big favour and have a good look at the chassis. Get in there, clean it up and make VERY sure you don't have a crack or something developing. That could ruin your whole day. As the old springs were fine for a very long time I suspect there is something other than low quality springs going on here.

Don't treat the symptoms, find the root cause.

Dead right, that sounds really odd, there must be something causing it. Do not swap the springs, they are specific to each side at the front.
