has anyone out there come across a repair section for the a post where it joins onto the sill, or is it the case of fabricating a repair section. any tips or advice would be welcome

Try YRM metal solutions or PM Daft as he has lots of drawings for repair panels he's made for tufftee.

cheers redhand, hopefully your leads will be able to help me. i sometimes get the feeling my disco has spent its whole life submerged in highly concentrated salt water & then left to dry out in the sahara

totally agree with your comment regarding hat mans post repair section, any pictures ref not only your post repair but also your sill replacement would be great.
