Did a load of work at db schenkers at acton. Fella was killed whilst were were waiting to get on track.

Last year. Werent a lad working. He watched the rugby and got off the train and took a shortcut. Last train before the possesion got him. Spread him so far they had to get the polce chopper out with thermal imaging.. recovered less than a carrier bags worth. He were 19. Terrible.

Ah right. Thought it was a P-way worker or yard staff.

A shunter got killed at Old Oak Common some years ago. Worked for the same company but whilst they were owned by EWS.

Not too bad then, thought it may be 2-3 years,

Nah, not these days.

I did my driver training in 2004 and I was productive in 8 months, but then I didn't have to do the shunter's course which, at the time, was 3 weeks in itself.
I think the train handling hours are a lot longer these days, too. Around 275 driving hours IIRC.

Yes it's 275 hours.

DB Shenker driver vacancies ad said:
"Due to the requirement to protect the safety of your train Body Mass Index (BMI) ideally would not exceed 33..."

First time I've ever seen that in a driver vacancies ad!!

So is anyone applying for this??

To be honest, the exam results bit is a load of bollox.

It's all about the ability to display a professional attitude, plenty of common sense and being technically minded.

Thinking about it, I have 2 issues, 1 is qualifications, I don't have the gcse's and it doesn't say equivalent , gonna send an email to the HR department, and 2 the trainee wages wouldn't cover my bills, so if I was successful I'd have to get into debt until qualified  but its an option
