A long shot Saxo engine!!!!!!!!

Hi, Having only owned a series3 for the last 10 years and the last car i
owned was a Austin Maxi(Yes remember them) anyroad my son has just required
a Saxo1.1....

When revving the engine I noticed the engine swings up a few inches when
applying the throttle...(The more revs the more the swing )(Let off the revs
then settles back)Nothing seems out of place and runs ok is this normal for
a modern engine?

My 2.25 petrol doesn't move at all even on full throttle I am just not sure
if this is supposed to happen anyone make me a bit wiser as i don't want to
take it to the garage and feel a bit of a pratt because its normal...Its bad
enough being called Ford and owning a Land Rover going to a garage full of
comedians..............

It could be the awesome untamed power trying to unleash itself. ).

Are you sure it swings up in inches?.
Its normal to have a bit of play but i wouldn't of thought that much.
I would start with the engine mounts.

Hi, the front of the engine moves about half to one inch in a upward motion
when revved the mounts don't seem loose just seems weird as a Landy
engine(2.25) has no movement..Would you recommend taking it to a garage
anyway......

In my opinion,I wouldn't see that as excessive movement.If it's running fine
without any loud knocking then it's normal.
My lad has just written off his corsa and bought a modded clio,Both of these
engines had a small amount of movement when revved.
You should see my 90 when starting it from cold,That does look excessive,But
it's fine.
I wouldn't worry mate.

the landy engine is straight up and down , pound to a penny yer saxo engine is at a slight incline..

I would replace the engine mountings (quickly) if it was my boy behind
the wheel, Boys will be boys springs to mind and when pop isnt looking
its probably knocking its pan out at 90mph on the roundabouts.Should be
an inexpensive fix and easy within reaches of a home mechanic without
specialist tools. I would rather that than anything falling off at
speed...any speed .
I'm in North East Scotland and would be happy to put my toolbox where my
mouth is if your anywhere close and need assistance

Thanks for the offer Paul but I am nowhere near Scotland..But will be taking
the saxo to the garage...
