A few questions.

id wont matter what order yer connect the three cables it wont blow a fuse, it wont work thas all, when ther right yerl kno, why not just but a new sender, clean the tank up with some diesel on a rag or engine cleaner spray , then do the job right,

doubtfull, borrow a trailer board and plug it in , see what happens

Reet, no other loose wires under there from what I can see apart from a yellow and white one.

I've studied that wiring diagram and it just confuzzled the **** out of me. I've never understood. Think it's mebbey summat ter do with Autism.

If sumwum could give me very clear and basic step by step instructins (perhaps with some pics) on how to wire it up from scratch I would give it a go.

why would they go to the engine ?? thers a power feed to the sender, then it works as a switch, with the other two wires,
the ball floats up and follows a copper conductor, the position of the arm on the conductor is shown on the gauge

I think the person what told you they went to the engine is confoosing pipes with wires...

easily done

Take the fuel sender out (see, the 3 little metal tabs, tap them around with a screwdriver until they match up with the gaps around and you can pull it out), and see how it behaves when you move the ball float up and down. Go from there
