Only in the sweep area 290 mm wide immediately in front of the driver. A camera fitted in the centre of the screen below the rear view mirror is NOT a fail.
 
That looks like the same camera I've had for about 18 months now, it's been spot on and has caught some interesting driving. You can alter it to 15 minute recording segments which makes it a lot easier when editing things later (green lane stuff). It records well in the dark too.

No reason why you can't attach/strap something to the rear view mirror. It's where I've always had cameras.. they can't be seen, either!

I was thinking of using Velcro on the dash and making a "carrier"for the camera,you could use Velcro on the rear view mirror too.
 
I have these cameras to 4 in total, hard wired so they work when I'm away from vehicle. Had some amusing footage of clowns and their driving. Put one on the back window so people who tailgate can see it recording them and they quickly back off. Had no trouble and excellent pics, under a tenner plus an SD card u have to purchase, buy a good make of SD.
 
suction cup and drop down monitor,even had to go through a Chinese menu before I got to the English(phew),so really looked into this camera malarkey and chose nextbase 302 deluxe.
 
one from Halfords £89 with £10 gift card and ebay £48,shudda bought the first one off ebay ,12 months g`tee
