I removed my viscous fan a good 3 years ago and had no issues till this year, the issue was to do with the aircon, when stationary and the engine not hot enough for the fan to be running the aircon evaporator has no airflow and struggles to cool the refrigerant inside, even with the aircon fans on they assist the main fan so dont work too well alone...
The fix is to take a wire from the live supply of the compressor clutch through a 1 amp diode to the cooling fan relay, this turns on the fan whenever the compressor clutch engages (most newer vehicled now do this i been told) the diode prevents the compresor clutch engaging when cooling fan powered up and if the weather is warm enough to need air con then a little extra cooling of the engine coolant isnt a bad thing, and can be used as a fan overide by engaging the compressor clutch.....if need be!
