A/C does not work

Hi all,

I checked the pressur this morning and it had dropped again. I repressurised again and noticed a "air conditioning hiss" in the cabin. I again checked the pressure and it had dropped again.

So I emptied the kit into the system which gave a steady 30 psi, and cold air in the cabin!

I guess that there was a blockage in the cabin heat exchanger that worked itself free during the night.

Now just have to hope it maintains its charge.

Can anyone tell me the recommended pressure (psi) for the system?

Thanks,

Jed.

I know this will sound barmy but i don't care, the a/c works on level [bit like a see through gas lighter] except a different liquid, your not putting gas in your putting in a liquid freon it gases orft when its being used and the pressure will rise to about 30-45 psi below 15 and it wont work, so like a gas lighter yer can have a smidge of gas and it will work[but not for long] Simula if ya have 30 psi of gas but no liquid it wont work , if its been without gas for a long time the system has ta re- gen and this can take a while. . .:)

when you consider that the stuff is expanding and contracting in the condensor and evaporator( or is it the other way round) then what mings says sounds barmy but i don't care. ...
if you have a small leak it can takes a few days for it to get to a low enough pressure for it to stop.. i know..i found out the hard way.

Yes thats correct Slob ,thats why if ya suspect a leak the die idear is very good in detection. .:)

Hi slob,
Sorry but what is a fooker ? Is it big enough to be seen with yr eyes shut ??

Black light and so was also the mambo-jambo I got when I was in the LR showroom to buy the Hippo (back in end 2000 that was) fortunately for me I do not seem to have to go in so far for whatever a/c question, was not impressed when new and still not now but the functionality not gone down since new I think. So following this thread closely.

Its a sort of slang Willo meaning he took his sun glasses of and saw the leak, what you need in your system Willo is the stuff that was on a thread a while ago, ill see if i can find it. . .;)

it was by shark22 and you was on that thread Willo , but he never told us what the product was, but we can get it in a shop called Halfords not sure if you have that in your land. . .;)

We have everything in our land ming, as long as it's not called Halford or Harrods or similar..;) :D :D :D (to be honest, it's years and years ago I sat foot in an autoparts shop, that was the place for me to be in the past when younger but now .....these days I was working on my car on an almost daily basis, necessary or not always onto it, until 9-10 in the evening, no tube for me. My mini back in the '60's got cranked up in the morning, I worked shifts, and I crawled under it until noon, than rush meal and out for the job, these days I think about all the things I still can do at the Hippo but problem is that I think about it in bed before falling asleep and in the morning I've all forgotten about, so .... that's why Ron's box still in the cupboard in the garage, but also my SWAMBO said to leave it as it is as all seems to be working fine now, so any excuse is ok for me these days to postpone things...)

Man after my own heart Willo,
That was my first impression of the hippo when i first drove it, BIG MINI:D
luv it

Switched my aircon on today. You can hear the click and the revs drop but it don't get cold, there is also some hissing noises coming from the black box thingy in the passenger footwell but only when the aircon switch is on.
Any Ideas?
