A bit of an anorak 110 question

OK so I have at long last managed to scrape together the neccessaries in order to get hold of my long - time dream which I have wanted since they first came out: A 1983 One Ten V8 county station wagon in what I call "Russet Brown" and my wife refers to in slightly less complimentary terms. The way prices are going I am beginning to think that this was my last chance. This now brings me into the modern age of Landys being the first one I have ever owned with coil springs and at the same time it also gives me the LR which I dreamed of owning when they came out and I was only 15 years old so it's a piece of history for me too.

The question is... is there any documentation out there about these early V8 CSWs? There seems to be a bit about the stage 1 but not much about the 110. Mine was built in July '83 but I'd really love to know when the first one was built - when did the chassis numbers start etc. Surely there must be other anoraks out there... anyone know of any good sites?

Cheers!

Your vin should be able to tell you a bit about how many had been made before yours. Dunsfold DLR are the definitive Land Rover History people.

Great that you got your dream Land Rover. Prices are going a bit silly for some versions!

Is it a good one or a "rolling restoration project"?

Thanks for the good advice, zeaphod - I'll definitely give both those ideas a try.
Cheers, lightening - it was as near perfect as I could afford... bearing in mind that people are asking up to 20k for supposedly perfect examples of these now.... it's not quite *that* perfect but it's very tidy and has very little wrong with it.... I simply can't afford the time for a restoration project because I've already got too many of those on the go! The chassis is superb so I'll have to find the time to get it really well protected as a matter of urgency though. I guess that the worst problem it has is the sound it makes every time I press the accelerator: It's going to break me at the petrol pumps.....

I've considered one myself but although you don't generally buy a 110/109 for looks alone, I still think that the Stage One station-wagon is the best looking LR ever made. Now lets see, where did I put that flak jacket.
