99 td5 brake discs

Need to do the brake discs & pads on my 99 td5 discovery, (making really strange noises now), done the pads before, no snags there, but are there any strange items required for the discs, or is it just a standard socket set job? Also, does anyone know the torque settings for the mounting bolts or is it just the old 3 white knuckles?, (ft/lbs plse)

Intend doing this after nightshift tonight so could do with knowing sooner rather than later please.

Did mine some months back, Im sure its a star shaped bolt, my limited socket set just fitted and luckily got them undone. I did mine but then had the three amigos light up on my dash, must of knocked the hub sensor, do a search for the Three amigos all will become clear

Yes, there is a bolt on the back of the caliper carrier. This will be very tight (I think something like 170 newton metres) so you need a good fit so as not to round off the bolt. It's a 16-sided "special" but a hex-socket (19mm??) will fit just fine. Also the crosshead screw in the disk can be hard to shift without an impact driver and a very large (Pozi #4 maybe) bit.

Get the right tools and it'll be a lot easier!
