98 plate Freelander drivers door central locking problem

Hi folks,

I'm having a bit of trouble with the lock for my drivers door on my 98 plate 5 door diesel Freelander. When I use my key fob to lock the car it works fine and all doors lock. However when I use it to unlock the car all doors unlock except the drivers door. My key doesn't seem to fit in the door to unlock so I've got to reach over the passenger side to unlock.

I thought it was weird that it locks ok but doesn't unlock

Anyone had any similar issues?

failed door lock solenoid, buy a new lock assembly, budget for £75 from a stealer for a genuine part, £55 or so from the dreaded ebay.

genuine part no. LALR9782 K633 Lock Assy - Fro

allow an hour or so to fit if you haven't done it before, not hard just a bit fiddly

I thought it was weird that it locked but didn't unlock. I take it there is a Solenoid for locking it and a separate solenoid for unlocking it?

I had this exact same problem with mine, and replaced the door latch/solenoid assembly and all works great now.

I managed to get the genuine part from a Land Rover dealer on eBay for £65 including postage. The other posts are right in saying that it's awkward to fit - it is! However mine is working just fine now.

Strange that your door key doesn't unlock it though - mine did. Sounds like either it's the wrong key for the lock barrel or it's all seized up.
