evening all,

anyone have a idea onwhat can be wrong with my poorly disco,
ive not use the disco for a few days, and needing to charge it befor starting it,

she's now decided to lock her self in netual  and the key is locked in the ingniton, hmmmmm,
she starts fine but the gear selector just wont move from the n position,

i assume once i find the selector issue i will be able to sort the key issue,
well i hope to anyway ;)

lol ive been trying that, but still the selector stays locked in N, i know thers a swich somwhere but not sure where, foot brake side or gbox hmmmmm

All Japanese autos have this interlock so only being able to remove the key when in park my even my Accord has it..
If you can't move the selector from N then I suggest that the gubbins that should allow the selector to 'unlock' from that position and move after the button is pressed is not working... maybe.

Yes , same on my japspec . Also when the linkage came apart it wouldnt come out of neutral ....not surprising , really . Have you looked at the mechanical link underneath ? It could be that simple ..... with luck ....

...also , have you looked at the footbrake switch ? The plastic one at the top of the pedal can easily get semi-or-completely knocked out of its seat , upwards

Oh ! And rockhopper ? Thats shameful , you shouldnt be going around telling people about that !:D:D:D:D

...I got a tricked out Zaskar with judy sl's, XTR, cook bros etc and a Canondale .....but I dont tell anyone ! Oh bugger .....I just did ......

anyway , I cant ride them anymore cos Im a disabled wreck , much like my vehicles ....I just like to look at them and dream

lol the rockhopper has bin trickd up a bit, god only knows what i were thinking, i could off brought another landy or maybe even done something on the indian ow well  lol

Does the button on the lever feel normal, sometimes the clip attaching it to the linkage inside the lever comes adrift.

hello sorry not had a chance to reply back been a busy bunny,
yea checked that, also the linkages underneath, but still the same,

it has some silly parking pawl system,
i'll investigate further tomorrow, think the cubby box and tray around selector will need to come off, as there are some strange wires that lead there, from the ignition switch wiring, hmmmmmmmmm wierd,

wil update tomorrow,

blimy spookie stuff :confused2: yesterday the disco started fine went to move the selector and click into reverse.
as if there was nothing wrong, took it for a short drive and everything 100% until i park back up at home, go in to park and switch off engine, started engine again tied to go into reverse and this time its stuck in park,

ive traced the wires from ingnition, 1 goes to a relay under passenger footwell and the other to the stereo,
anyway after faffing about for half odd hour stipping the cubby box and sorround, and changing the bulbs for the selector,
i prized off the small sqaure cap, on top of the selector, to find a stupid lil slide lock thats broken, surely not something so trivial?
a simple fix, a 5p cir clip omg :mad::mad::confused: and now :D
