95 300tdi disco wont start

i have 95 300tdi disco and having problems with it starting it was blowing number 3 fuse on satellite 1.Turns out it was egr electronic control unit what i want to know is since there is a mod for the egr system if i take the control box out will this stop the disco from starting.

can anyone help please

have you tried just unplugging the egr valve to see if your problem stops? if it does just buy a blanking kit! it will probably run better without the egr anyway.

thanks for that ill try that but i take it then i can leave the egr control box disconnected then and it should start.

i have done away with my egr valve and just tucked the wires away.i cant see why it wont run unless the blowing fuse also controls something else!

i have NOT disconnected the actual control box only the valve! have you made sure that you havnt got any water in the plug on the unit because its on the passenger side behind the fascia.

my egr is on the driver side and i thought it might be water but it has none on the plug or the unit there is a unit on the passenger side but not sure what it is i thourght it was to do with the alarm or the central locking system.

The egr valve is on the passenger side, bolted to the exhaust manifold ... so what you been taking apart?

Might be worth taking a pic of what you think the egr is ...

Similarly take pics of what you think the alarm is !!!

i was talking about the egr electronic control box being on the drivers side under the dash not the egr valve on the manifold.when the box is connected it blows the fuse but when its not its ok what i want to know is if the box is disconnected should my disco still start.

Your vehicle should start and run without the egr ecu. I disconnected mine a month prior to removing my egr valve on my last deepender.
