Despite a full tank of petrol the gauge on our D1 V8 doesn't move off the stop. Also, the amber light remains on solid.

Having removed the inspection panel and removed the connector and turning on the ignition, predictably nothing changed.

Having Bridged the green and black wire on the connector and turning on the ignition the gauge moved all the way to "full" yet the amber light remained on. Odd.
Although at least it proves the wiring to the guage is functional?

Presumably the next step would be to order a new pump/sender unit?
I gather this is part number ESR3926.
Can anyone tell me the part number for the ring seal and olives? Is there anything else I'd need to buy to change the pump/sender unit?

Any tips on removing the large locking ring? Is there a special tool I need to buy?

Thanks in advance!

Jon.

Removed the old pump and replaced with a new one.
There was no float or arm attached to the original unit?

Presumably some oaf had snapped it off when installing it in the tank? The old tank seal looked virtually new as did the old fuel pump and compression fittings. I didn't fancy hunting around the tank for float and arm - the tank was 3/4 full and petrol is carcenogenic after all.
£55 well spent I think!

Ah, sods law! Still, it's done now and even better there were no leaks from the compression fittings. I'm usually a prime candidate for over tightening them!

I wasn't expecting to see so much fuel left in the tank actually? I was anticipating it to only have achieved 10mpg but it's actually closer to 16mpg having tanked up since fitting the new fuel pump? All the more surprising considering that I've been driving it like a yob when my other half wasn't in the vehicle!

Haha cant complain with 16mpg!! mines not even averaging 10 atm :( old one got 21 on motorway and 16/17 average round town :( gonna rebuild a engine and swop over so hopefully get nearer those figures :)
