93 200tdi no ignition at all?

Just tryed to start the disco after parking it up friday night,turned the key and nothing .flat battery i though as there was no ignition lights at all and i couldn't here the glowpug timer,anyway checked the battery which was fine and then realised everything thats not connected to the ignition is working all ok (hazzards,main beam flash,radio ect).I removed the ignition switch to check it was turning and then checked for power to the switch but theres nothing .Anybody got any ideas of what i could look for next apart from some petrol and a lighter?

checked the big wire connected to the starter ?

I've only checked the battery and the ignition switch/wiring so far Sean as the fault is like turning the key with the battery disconnected (its not ).Deffinatly will be checking the starter wire though as the clutch was done about 3 weeks ago so could dodgy.

Haven't been able to check this out yet as the cars in work so will be checking the cable tommorow,also found out where the ignition relay is so can check that too.

Finally got to the bottom of the problem today,seems as if somewhere in its life some kind of alarm/immobiliser has been fitted and then later removed and the wires re-joined.The main ignition feed to the ignition switch had come apart behind the lower dash panel where it hadn't been properly reconnected.Thanks for the suggestions as it did point me in the right sort of direction
