Hi there

I have had my 1992 200tdi 90 for 2 years with basically no issues. Today it wouldn't turn over. And what I think is the transmission warning light came on. I managed to tow start it easy enough and it seemed to drive fine. But when I stopped it wouldn't start again. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks

Transmission oil temp warning light. Shouldn't stop it from starting so I'd guess an electrical fault that may or may not be related.

That's not particularly helpfuI know

Thanks. Occasionally recently the handbrake light popped on whilst it wasn’t on. But then went off again. Maybe a related electrical issue?

Hand brake light will most likely be only the lever not fully on the switch, press down on the lever to take it off, mine does that, its very unlikely to be related to none start issue, it could be a battery problem, if your battery is ok check the wires on your starter motor. Is relay clicking or starter solenoid clicking.

badly adjusted cable or low fluid in brake reservoir can do that , the transmission light if fitted has a switch on t/box side with wiring which comes from bulkhead and usually taped up top box loom ,youd have to follow that loom back

Bad earth somewhere or a chafed wire feeding back to erroneously light up the display + stop it starting? Have a look at your engine loom where it comes out the bulkhead - mine rubbed through there and caused a similar issue.
