LOL a lift "kit" is rubbish find out HOW exactly it lifts your vehicle stiffer springs? softer longer springs? blocks? etc its all in the detail and every kit is nowhere near the same

It depends on your usage and also the weight of the vehicle. On my 90 I've got the terrafirma springs (medium duty +2 inch) and their +5inch shocks, the 90 handles really well and still flexes up pretty nicely :D

The only problem is that the back is a bit too firm, At the moment I have no roof and just a rollbar and a highlift jack in the back...may change for the light dutys. On the plus side, the 90 tows like a dream though.

As said before, some people get away without castor correction and others have to do it, mates of mine have had both experiences.

Your budget of £800 sounds plenty, but think of every little thing you may need?
- springs
- shocks
- front turrets/rear shock mounts
- extended brake hoses
- wide angle/double carden props front/rear
- castor corrected radius/trailing arms
- spring seats
- retaining rings/bars
- dislocation cones
- new bolt set
- new bushes

Also consider the downsides e.g.
cost/time/effort
possible poor handling
knock on effects of other components: prop ujs, transfer box output shaft bearings...
also access to your garage/workshop/car parks etc

After the lift and new tyres, I had a problem with getting my towbar low enough to tow twin axle trailers also

Terrafirma shocks are great, cant say many special things about my britpart springs , deffinetly go for galvanised HD turrets tho, worth evert penny :D

TF dampers are no good with heavy loads. I have plenty of good stuff to say about their springs though. Had medium duties on for 3 years now and the 90 is always operating at around 300kg below GVW. no sag, still going strong. I have however replaced the dampers for OME HD units (N44/N115 to follow).

The OP needs to answer a multitude of question before anyone can give him advise. where is he?

Fitted Terrafirma medium duty 2" lift to my Defender, cranked trailing arms and radius correction, when the job was finished I ended up with vibration and a rattle that seemed to be coming from the transfer box, ended up shelling out for front double cardon prop and rear wide angle prop, cured the problems and drives brilliantly both on and off road, great suspension job but it did get expensive, some people seem to be able to get away without castor correction, I was one of the few that couldn't, I,m definitely happy with Terrafirma the ride is a bit solid in the back though, if your going to do it my advice would be to be prepared to have to shell out for things you may not of expected.

use the £800 and buy an ARB for the back axle.
or spend £150 and get x eng on the back and use your standard springs

thats my only gripe that i didnt do one of the two with my motor.

If you dont have 35" tyres dont worry about lifts

I fitted a 2" lift to my 90 truck cab and it was horrible handled horrible and was hard as f**k. But now I have fitted van sides and roof it is better for the extra weight. Have stereo and tools in back. When towing a car or something heavy it's perfect!! My advice is don't get HD springs unless you tow or carry large people in the back.
