90 rear floor

In the process of rear chassis repair and decided to remove rear floor rather than removing tub complete. there was a chequer plate overlay which came out fairly easily, then lots of grinding and baging and whats left of the original floor is out.
The three steel cross members are in ok nick and re useable, the three ally longitudal stiffeners however are virtually non existent

Are they available as replacement items? or with a thicker chequer plate floor, are they really necessary?
Anyone done a similar job can advise?

By the way, the chassis that looked quite good from beneath doesnt look so good from the top now ive attacked it with the grinder - esp the cross member where the A frame mounts!!

Why??? taking the whole body off is do able in 2 hrs. and makes life so much easier
Thats alright for those of you that have massive barns as garages. When you're doing it on your drive its easier to remove the floor. Also makes for easier servicing/maintenance later on. When I needed to service my fuel pump it was a piece of **** and saved having to drop the tank.

Yes you need to replace the floor supports unless you don't want to carry anything in the back.
 
The floor is out now - access to the rear chassis is quite good. does anyone know if the alloy longitudal stiffeners are available anywhere?
Ive tried to add some pics - it doesnt look pretty!

Nah I did a full tub change on the drive on me own, Roof & sides off in one then tub off took me 2 hrs. Boddy cappings were rotten so replaced the full tub. Easier than changing the cappings. :eek:
 
i would be tempted to take off the top shock mounts and check the chassis behind them while you're at it
yer i would! i just hav and hav discoverd my chassis has rusted right through. stil better finding out that way than wen it all falls apart!
 
yes - i think i had the mounts off when i plated her up from underneath but will do the same again. Chopped off the offending spring seat last nite and chopping back to sound metal. Is the chassis in 2 layers at this point? I know there is a seam that runs along the top of the chassis, but i have cut a section out of the side beneath the spring seat and there is another layer beneath with a seam/gap running horizontally. Will post some pics tonite
