Hello all, I have done a search but could not find any definative answers.

Basicly I love defenders and need something a bit cheaper to insure and run so I might be getting myself one, in a nutshell it needs to-

1) Be able to tow my track car, which is about 1500 kg's
2) Be my daily driver, and I have the nephew in the car sometimes who is two.
3) Be able to carry a few people more often than not, I have worked out that the 90 can seat 7 and the 110 can seat 9 or 11 (is this correct).
4) be around £3k, I appreciate with this budget it will be a high milage and tatty car, but the latter part is part of the charm!

I also think I am going to be looking out for the 200 or 300TDi, so should i be looking for a 90 or a 110?

Thanks for reading

Aidan

A 90 with 7 people will be a very tight fit. If you're going to be carrying more than 3 passengers regularly I would say the 110. :D 110s can usually seat 11 or 12 depending on whether the front middle seat has been removed for a cubby box.

90s are pretty flamin useless if you want to put anything or anybody in the back. You clearly need a 110 station wagon. And yes for 3000 quid it will be a shed, if you can find a tdi one at all in that budget.

Just a thought... when did you pass your test and what sort of trailer will you use for your track car?

anything with a longer wheelbase will generally be more stable when towing a trailer

therefore a 110 will be more down your street and so much more accessible for passengers with the back doors rather than falling out the back of a 90.

And if you wanna fit 7 in a 90 you will be talkin side facing seats which aint comfy for any long journey or that safe for anyone really!

I got my license in 2008, and im not sure about what trailer I will use yet, but I am aware I may have to wait till I am 21

Thanks for all the resposes guys, I think I will be keeping an eye out for a 110 station wagon.

Yup, ive' had a look into it and my insurance aren't asking about how many seats it has, so it might be a matter of taking some seats out of the back and keeping quiet.

go 110. the 90 is friggin small in the back!! for £3000 you will easily get a tatty 200/300tdi. i paid £900 for my 200tdi 90. it just won't be shiny.
i guess with track days comes loadsa extra kit too...like a thermos... so i'd get the 110. the 90 really is small
