sounds od things its ur alternator get it off and take it to a decent auto electricion he will change rectafior that should be ok then

i dont think its the altinator

after trickle charging it started first time all day yesterday but i did have the battery light come on last ngiht but then it went off again after driving for a bit (took the long way home) and it start first time this morning

i have another battery coming tonight which should do the trick and im goign to go from there hopefully it will cure the problem

i htink i killed my battery by leaving the dash lights on over night

sounds to me as if you have a bad connection from your alternator harness to your battery or a bad alternator wouldnt suspect the battery if it had taken a charge over night and started then he the alternator is doing its job correctly then it should work ok. Its pointless just guessing just do the checks will take you only 5 mins can save you £££ I had an engine fire not long back because the alternator harness came dislodged from its clips and shorted through the the back of my engine luckily i had spanners ready for the battery and a fire extinguisher the only symptoms were my battery light would come on randomly even without the key in the ignition suspecting the diode pack i changed the alternator seemed to cure it for a while but then it did it again. please check your harness as its unlikly but possible and you could end up with a burnt out shell for the sake of 5 minutes effort Jai

ok cheers well the battery is free so thats a plus i will check the altanator on the weekend as im goign to be fiddling with electrics tryign to get the indicators to work

batteries can be funny things.
Last year was driving the old david brown tractor at work at night in the vineyard with lights on and then the next morning it wouldnt start, so jump started it with a fendt. Then ran it for a while to charge it up. next morning same problem, jump start, run it, then put it on charge overnight. Started in the morning fine. next day, dead as anything. Re-charge the bettery...fine. next day dead. jump started it...fine. next day fine...next day fine, back to normal!!!!!

well seems to be ok now started all this week after the problems on monday see just goign to leave i think i have a spare battery now im goign to charge right up so if there is any problems i can just swap them over or jump start it from the battery.
