Hi all, new member, 1st post here!
We've had a 1987 (tbc) Defender 90 pick up with a 2&1/4 petrol engine. RHD for years.
We brought it back from the Netherlands. But it didn't pass the UK MOT to allow us to complete the import and UK registration So it is untaxed and no reg plates. We use it twice a month to harrow our fields, with the idea of getting it fully restored one day.
MOT fail was rotten chassis. Mechanically it is good my mechanic mate tells me. Clock stopped at 80odd k miles. Rest of it isn't too tatty. But that is the character of it surely!

I've recently lost my job and some "Man toys" have to go.

I'm of the understanding this particular little petrol thing is pretty rare. That's why we got it after a std 90 td5 and a std 90 300tdi. So I'm struggling to find an estimated value if I was to sell it. Any guidance appreciated.

If the chassis needs replaced then this will have a big impact on the price. At that age... unless it's got some sort of historic value... the value won't be any different to other vehicles in the same condition and similar age.

@Marmaduke might have a guess at the price.

I'd be inclined to ask his mechanic mate to weld the chassis and mot it:p

tbh not worth a great deal as it stands. No UK reg, low powered undesirable engine and in need of a new chassis. Dare I say it, but this would probably be as cheap as NON-Defenders get (it is a Ninety, not a Defender....)

Anyone buying it will be doing so as a major project, before they can even use it. Prices do seem crazy on any type of 90/Defender though. So maybe you'd get lucky, but honestly I'd be thinking sub £1500, maybe as low as £800

Probably worth similar is your strip it for parts. Most valuable bit is probably the doors.

If you could repair the chassis, get it road legal with a UK reg, it'd be worth a lot more. But despite being a rare engine, I don't think it would be overly desirable in the grand scheme of things.

I could be completely wrong however....

Worth a lot less as no UK reg...

Problem there is they cant transfer it into their name till it's UK reg as it is now in UK and will need a NOVA form filled in...

The question was about selling it as is not repairing it was the way I read it...
One of them difficult decisions. Sell as it is and it's not worth much. Get it repaired and registered and worth a lot more potentially. But the cost of repair may be too much. We would need to know more about the condition and see more pic's.

Sell as it is and it's not worth much. G

Only parts value as who ever buys it cant register it even after a rebuild as only the person named on docs can register it...there are exeptions where historic interest is involved but not in this case...

It would have to be sold in Holland to have its documentation transferd to new owners would it not?...this is why he is in a pickle in the UK...
