Hi All,

Got a few Q's

I am looking to buy one of these later today

Any info anyone can give me on this Landy to look for when viewing this later today?

What are the pro's and cons of owning this type of Lany ?

She's a 2.2 petrol so Im guessing it maybe a bit thirsty ( me being a tight wad ) :)

Any advise would be greatly recieved !

Thanks

Shop around and look at a few before parting with the cash. I see from your profile that this is not your first venture into elderly vehicles, it's just that project vehicles have a life of their own and either turns out to be a rewarding hobby or drives you to despair..............and as your already running a RR, it's a bit late to start worrying about the fuel consumption on a Series vehicle :)

Thanks for your constructive reply !.

You'd be right I've had a slight dabble in the past....i finished a full restore on a 1961 Mk1 mini....I've had a RR and gased that..but was evident it was not looked after by it's previous owners ( but it still looked nice )
We also own a 54 Series I 88 incher and she's a bit of a gem too :)

And just recently added this 69 109 LWB which has been restored a few years ago by a previous owner....but still requires finishing....after a few days of looking at it i think he has short changed it by not going the full hog and not replacing new for old on some bits and pieces.....looks like it's just needs putting right

I'e wipers don't work ( they did on one turn but then stopped )
Looks like there was a full door on the back but a tail gate has been added and a big gapping hole where the top half of the door used to be I'll post some pix sometime over the weekend to show you this....
I may look at exmoor trim to send me a square ( ish ) bit of canvas with eye lets and fastners and make a canvans door my self.....
A few bulbs are out ....checked 2 bulds this morning and they look ok but the holders look a little past it.

Also a blow in the exhaust..looks like either the manifold to head or it could be the join to the downpipe....again I need a sometime and get under it and take a look

Think that's about it for now

I had this picture in my head of something that had been planted in a field for years, but rather it appears you have got your hands on a decent vehicle. :)

Funny that went to look at one of them last year...but it had already been pulled out of the field.....oohhh it was a right mess all the grass and shrubbery was still on the Landy and had dried to straw !

Yeah, been a couple on Ebay recently which went for silly money, having said that, one of them I thought I had, 'on buy it now', seller backed out out cos they got another offer 250 quid more...........3k for a series II:eek:........maybe it's the 60th anniversary coming up thats brought out the speculative buyers hoping for a quick buck.
I'll bide my time and wait for the right Series II to come along.
