Posted this is the Freelander section yesterday and it's had a lot of views, but no feedback. It may be that the vehicle is too new for there to be enough info about it for people to comment.
Thought I'd try it on here in case other Landy owners have read something somewhere. She might have been just unlucky. Having said that, she had taken out extended warranty which has paid for itself many times over!

Dear Freelanderers
My sister has a 63 plate with 42K on the clock. It went in to limp mode and was diagnosed with a turbo failure. She's asked me if they have a reputation for this, but I don't know. Is her experience unusual?
Cheers

@Hippo or one of the other gaylanderers will let you know. Is it a PSA injuns? If so they do have a bit of turbo troubles.

It will be the psa engine with DW12 code at the start of design going back int history. There's no major issue that I know of. I have been looking at, reading about etc Freelanders and their troubles for far too many years. That dun't mean to say it's not possible it can't fail. There will always be something that fails at some point. My initial question would be: how has it failed? Case split, spinning bit not spinning, oil flow blocked...

Not sure what engine is in it to be honest.

Sorry, Hippo I didn't ask her. Not sure she would have asked that question at the garage. She probably just accepted that it was broken. Looks like she's just been unlucky. Thanks for the feedback
