Hello All!

So my '02 5th door hinges are sticking, making it very difficult to open and close the door.

When I look at the hinges, there are small bits of plastic sticking out from the two horizontal slits near where the pivot pin is.

Is there a way to make this at least functional again without requiring the replacement of the hinges? Any advice would be appreciated. The door is so stiff now that my wife can no longer operate it.

Thanks much!

can you not just squirt some WD40 /releasing fluid in the hinge and open and close the door till it frees off?

I have tried this, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. I am thinking that maybe there is some sort of plastic bushing in the hinge that is degrading, and binding in there?

Oh right ,sorry So... can you drift the hinge pin polish them up if they have rusted remove the plastic washers, grease every thing in sight or try to get some new ones?
My tailgate is a bit heavy to push closed but I think thats just the weight of the spare wheel.

I have checked the gas strut, and I'm pretty sure my problem is in the hinges. I have not tried to drift the pins. I actually don't know if I can, but I will check.
