Loss of power and lots of white exhaust smoke are encouraging my main LR dealer to ask for 1100 pounds for a new turbo. (fitted :) Audible bearing whine when engine is under load.. Roadside Recovery :(

40k miles on the engine.

Oil pressure light has been coming on when engine oil is hot on tickover but not when cold -> warm for about 2 weeks

Probable clause

1) Oil starvation?
2) Fuel contamination? My soon-to-be-ex-wife put 70 quids worth of unleaded in around 2 months ago and ran the engine for around 10 miles. LR main dealer simply drained the tank + new fuel filter.

Sounds like a ridiculous price. Comments on that?

Thx

Low oil pressure would cause the turbo to go tits up, does it knock as at once warm?

If it does need a turbo ive got one with a genuine 7k milage for £120, fitting is simple.

Never mind the turbo,I'd be more worried about the state of the crank and bearings if the oil pressure is that low and the car has been driven.
