51 reg p38 range rover 2.5 dhse auto

May i say hello to all of you, done lots of reading on the LandyZone but first time with a question so here goes. Had this 51 reg p38 2.5 dhse for a few years 115000 miles one the clock, has anyone have any idea why I have 2 gearbox oil tempreture switches on the gearbox oil cooler. one blue which I bought as a replacement. I also have a red one on the cooler above the blue, both going into the wiring loom. I was changing the blue one because of an gearbox overheat flashed up, when i had the caravan on the back.. many thanks if anyone can answer this one..
 
thanks for your reply, I think this is one of the last p38s before the next model, but its baffling,when I swap them round at the connecters the fan comes on and gearbox overheat comes on. ?? baffling.
 
love the mad house bit, but this vehicle is the dogs bollocks compared to the grand cherakee Jeep I had, I wondered why the deeler gave me a pair of overalls lol

Ah, OK one is for the gearbox overheat signal, the other for the operation of the cooling fan. Maybe mine has 2 and I have not noticed, or maybe on early cars one sensor did both jobs.
