From the book:

'In 1997, Land Rover North America's training unit, Land Rover University, created the TReK event. This is an annual competition for which North american dealerships are encouraged to put forward teams of three chosen from their own staff. The teams compete with one another in a variety of events that are focused on Land Rover vehicles and on team building.

In 1998, Range Rovers were used as the team vehicles, and a number were painted in the TReK colour of orange and fitted with the contrasting black decals associated with the competition. After the competition was over, the team Range Rovers were sold off to the public as used vehicles. The TReK Range Rovers thus constitute their own limited edition, and are highly prized today'

Now it does say orange, but the photo in the book is looks yellow, so maybe it is a very yellow biased orange....but the one you post could indeed be a genuine TReK edition.

That colour with all the same kit was in an accessory book I was looking at, so I'd assume it is a legit vehicle. Or at least a replica.

Here yer are then, another one listed in Aotearoa.

Its a "Strange Rover" built by Les Thomson at the Scottish Range Rover and Discovery centre in the early/mid ninety's - a hybrid RR & D1 with a Mazda 3.5L TD. Sounds like there were at least a dozen of them built and this one's made its way over here. Not sure how much better or worse it is than either of its donors, in my mind the best bit is the engine.

Looks to be in good nick and up for sale at $30K (£15K).

Here's an article about them from LRO in '93...

Can't work out whether they ruined a range rover or improved a discovery
