Hi all,

I know that Land Rover have done the recent heritage edition with the last of the defenders but does anyone know much about the 50th anniversary heritage defenders? Some friends have a 110 sw which I have known about from new but it's only recently twigged that it might be summat special. According to them it's one of only a few built. Unfortunately I didn't think to take any photos but I'll try to list the key details: Specifications being a classic green colour (Brunswick?) with special white/silver door hinges, bumper and grill (similar style to the recent heritage edition) also with custom green leather seats and custom dash clocks. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone?

Thanks

Albert

I believe they were early td5 models. Absolutely gorgeous too. There wasn't much hype about them though. Never quite understood why.

The 50th anniversary defender is a 4 litre gems V8 auto north American spec based 90. Most UK ones were Atlantis blue. They have a ltd edition plaque. 1998 onwards mostly registered on s and t plates

Many tdi versions of that year I have seen advertised as 50th anniversary editions. They aren't unless being produced in 1998 counts for all.

There seems to have been two versions. The v8s in blue is quite a well known one but this is a td5 in a very different style

Found a photo of one:

My mistake they're not sat on boost alloys. Does anyone have any idea how many were made etc?

Thanks

Yes you're right about that but you're talking about a totally different vehicle. There was the 50th anniversary defender in Atlantis blue. i'm lucky enough to thave the axles of one of them slung under my 90. But then there also was the Heritage edition launched in 1999 and that came in two colours - bronze green (as depicted above) and the light green used on the earliest series 1 and the 60th anniversary heritage model.
