Hi,I’m new to this forum, i have fitted a 50mm lift kit to my freelander 1 ,I’m having trouble getting the camber right ,iv got camber bolts in but thy are not making a lot of difference, any useful tips would be appreciated

I'm kind of in the same boat, I ddi a fifty mill lift on mine and camber has been a bitch to set up. Might need two sets of camber bolts replacing both top and bottom strut bolts with camber bolts. From memory the bolts offer a range of adjustment like 1.5°, I think you can put the bottom ones with the cam pusing the hub outwards and the top ones with the cam away from the hub this will allow the top of the hub to come in and push the bottom out to give you about the right camber.

I say might need second camber bolts, as I'm not certain, It is the approach I am taking to remedying mine but I haven't done this yet. I have bought another set of camber bolts to try it, after a rake of other work to be done to the car. The biggest problem with a 50mm lift kit is the tracking gets knocked to hell in a wheel barrow as the hubs drop down, increasing the distance from the steering rack, but the tie rods remain the same length, so they pull the back of the hubs inwards giving you toe out and wayward handling.

Try and blag a shot of a four poster ramp to get the camber set on the car, as its a PITA trying to get it right without the weight on the wheels. Might be a case of fit the bolts and free off the track rod ends then take it to a garage with your camber gage and get them to adjust and lock in the camber before they do the tracking?

PS: I just want to check that you know with the camber bolts to only tighten the nut not the bolt, turning the bolt adjusts the camber and you lock it down by tightening the nut once the camber is right?

Thanks for the reply,i know how the camber bolts work, its jus there not getting the travel they need,I’m thinking ill just shave off the back of the strut till I get the desired camber,i like the idea of using 2 sets of bolts, can you let me know how you get on
