Hello everyone,

In a few months I'm headed out in my Defender 110 from the UK and then through 50 nations via Morocco and the west coast of Africa. My website and blog is at Overlanding / Safari from Europe to Africa by Land Rover Defender

The trip is 100% self funded, but I'd really like to see if I could turn this into an journey which delivers some valuable aid to counter poaching. I've three substantial pledges already. Once there is some critical mass, then a formal UK Registered Charity will be formed.

I realise this isn't a unique journey, but is there anyone on the forum who might like to connect me to a business - large or small - who would like to have a positive PR message in exchange for a pledge?

It just seems worth a go. I'm busy drumming up such support from my own business contacts and friends too, but each little bit helps.

Comments? Contact me also through HLMJ[at]mac.com ...

I stress again, the trip is self funded.

Enjoy the trip ! good luck with sponsorship, as its pretty thin on the ground , probably 99% are fully self funded these days .

Probably would have been better not to be on a begging mission first post on the forum JMHO

Who's begging? I haven't asked for anything other than if members might know someone!

Yes, sponsorship is thin ... but then from my perspective it's all too easy to just sit back and not bother trying. Surely it's better to try to be other than the 'rich tourist'?

Oh, and £3,000 raised in the first week!
