We bought our Defender in early 2006 as a dealer demonstrator and apart from some running issues caused by the dealer messing with the wastegate settings, and a new handbrake cable a couple of years ago, nothing has gone wrong with the Defender in nearly 5 years.
I've not even had to replace a bulb. it's been serviced every 12 months.
It has had some off road use, and has been used every day of the year, the mileage is now just under 30,000. It's also done some towing. Flat out it will do over 90mph, not that I ever do it. I tend to do about 65 on the motorway.
It doesn't leak water (into the cabin) either...I think this is a pretty good record.
