Personally i think the answer is no. It maybe a 4.6 HSE that sounds like a diesel though.

Sorry for not mentioning in detail what i saw... it was 4.6 HSE with the Diesel sign. Because i was walking and the car was in traffic, it sure sounded like a diesel.

It may have been a HSE that had been fitted with a diesel engine. The 4.6 HSE has a v8 petrol engine.

There was, I believe, a prototype called "Iceberg" that could be what you describe but otherwise there ain`t no such beast. I have, however, just come from a workshop preparing 4.4V8 twin turbo, MANUAL, no electronic dash,L322`s,what a beast. These are road cars not Overfinch toys, standard looking,0-60 in 5.8,155 top whack, the car that L-R won`t make for production, idiots.

I need to go and change my underwear!

You were probably right. I'm only surprised that the guy had bothered to put a diesel sign on it, unless it was to remind his missus what to put in the tank! If you could have lifted the bonnet you would probably found a Japanese diesel lifted out of a pick-up fitted by some-one who has had enough of trying to get spares in Eastern Europe. If you want some real interest try parts of Africa or even better India, you just can't believe the badges out there. If an engine gives up the ghost the local blacksmith will fit whatever he's got in his back yard for you. 'Custom built' engine mounts the lot, and sometimes over-night. In fact thinking about it it might even be worth bringing one over, parking it at the side of a road with a comfy verge, setting up the video camera and calling the A.A.
