HELLO,:)
I have a problem with my Range Rover, it is a 1996 4.6 HSE, I keep my vehicle in excellent condition, however I have a problem that I need help with.

When you turn on the ignition the battery light does not illuminate and I get the message ALTERNATOR FAULT. I have removed the Instrument pack to see if the bulb had blown, (It hasnt). The alternator is still charging the battery ok, no problems there at all, I booked my RR in at my local RR dealership in Newport pagnell, Milton Keynes, and was told that I need a complete new Instrument pack:eek:.

I wondered if anybody has experienced a simmilar problem and If anybody here knows If the Instrument pack can be repaired.
Many thanks,
Lockesboy.

Just A Thought, But It Could Be A Bad Earth On Your Alternator.
It May Be Worth Cleaning The Terminals On The Alternater And Spraying Them With Electrical Degreaser.

Worth A Try?

Good Luck:)

Thanks, I had a look at the connections at the back of the alternator, they seem pretty clean to me, I checked to make sure the terminals were tight, which they were, I will remove the wires and give everything a good clean and put it back together, thanks again for your help.
