Can it be converted to springs like a P38? At similar cost?

Anything to watch for, it looks very clean & tidy, got 140k on it, but what old Rangies haven't?

The one thing I don't like is the truly horrible dark pimp windows all round. I'll be able to get normal
glass from a scrappers easy enough, but the rear door windows are not the normal size, will they be silly
money?

Yes, but cheaper as it's a 'classic', not a P38.
Police-spec springs seem to work quite well on the std LSE models, a nice
compromise for the extra wheelbase. Personally, I'd look at better dampers
than std as well, say Gabriel gasmatics or similar.

Check for valvegear noise from engine, maybe?

Dunno. FWIW, a friend has one and he deliberately fitted the dark stuff to
partially block the sun on decent days, it was like a greenhouse in the
rear! he just has the rears done though, the fronts are std clear.

Cheers matey, the first thing I'll look for will be vavle & associated noise! I'll check the oil for ATF
too!

He's had new airbags for the suspension, so hopefully it will be OK for a while, just wondered!

Thats not a bad idea with the windows, the wifes Touareg has that setup & it looks sweet, can't hard to
find two fron RRC windows!! I think it's now illegal to darken the drivers & passenger door windows??

Not illegal as such, the law states that a certain % of light should get
through and some police forces now have the necessary testmeter!! Pity they
don't know how to use it properly though.
In all honesty, the coppers tend not to take a lot of interest if it's only
the rears that are tinted, as long as the front door ones aren't, their
primary concern seems to be one of visibility out of the vehicle, and even I
can't really blame them for that one.

The first question is inspired...

You can get a lot of LSE for not much nowadays, can't you?

It's pretty easy to fit - more taking off than putting on, which
is nice.

Is the LSE longer than the average Rangie? Just a thought if there is a
couple of extra inches is it in the rear door / windows?

8 inches, all in the rear door. It was a cut and shut job for the US
market, but does make a very good family motor out of an otherwise
cramped back seat.
